Clapham Pop Up Antiques102-104 Clapham High Street SW4 7UL
While so much is closing down in London at the moment there is a new kid on the block in Clapham High Street – filling a much needed void selling original antique furniture and works of art.
The week when they should have been exhibiting opposite each other at the cancelled Battersea Decorative Fair Gabrielle de Giles and Sarah Potter decided to combine forces and open a pop-up shop in nearby Clapham.
Gabrielle’s son Matt recently refurbished a classic Victorian venue which once housed the Strada restaurant on the corner of Clapham High Street and Clapham Manor Street. It lends itself perfectly to the combination of Gabrielle’s mainly French provincial furniture, works of art and eclectic objects and garden pieces to Sarah’s minimalist mid-century furniture and small pieces.
The furniture being of a high and finished standard, the styles lie easily together and would fit into both urban or country settings. The room settings offer living, dining and bedroom options with mirrors, paintings and lighting together with their accoutrements. The shop is due to be open until the end of November. Prices range from £10 to £3,000 – perfect for furnishing a home or stocking up on a special Christmas present.
