Cairo Kitchen

160 Clapham High Street, SW4 7UG

The Renowned restaurateur Wasif family have returned to their original Egyptian roots to bring us Cairo Kitchen in the former ESCA and the first of its kind in London!

Sami was born in the farming town of Beni Suef, close to Meydoum and Saqqara pyramid’s on the Memphis plateau of ancient times and the birth place of Horus. Sami’s ancestors produced the annual bread ‘starter’ (mother dough) which was blessed and distributed to the local towns people during the spring Equinox. In Egypt bread is known as A’ish. The translation when converted from its root source translates into meaning ‘LIFE FORCE’.
