FALSE TEETH. FAKE FUR. TRUE LOVE.

‘Furiously fabulous females’ aka THEM 2, acclaimed poet, Donna Jones MBE and award-winning writer, Joan Ellis introduce their new show,
False Teeth. Fake Fur. True Love. ‘Two severely interesting, talented and inspirational women’, THEM 2 mine pasts more chequered than Donna’s golf trousers using their eclectic mix of poetry, prose and anecdotes to expose life in the raw. Expect wolves stripped of sheep’s clothing and old dogs turning new tricks. Happy. Sad. True to life.
True to you.

‘Marvellous. An extraordinary evening that should not be missed. A delight from beginning to end – humour, poetry and sadness. Joan and Donna told tales of life and totally captivated their audience.
Stories of childhood, family life mixed with poetry, happiness and anguish.’ Wellington Festival

‘funny and poignant…a night to remember’ Evesham Festival

‘heartfelt anecdotes’ Ventnor Fringe

‘imaginative and full of wit and glamour but also managed to touch on profound issues – a smashing occasion.’ Isle of Wight Literary Festival

‘Talented performers’ Hospice Chief Executive

About Joan
Joan met at least two of her three husbands working as an award-winning copywriter in London’s top advertising agencies. She wrote a column for Junior about her young daughter, who has had the good sense never to read a word her mother writes. Juggling a baby on the hip with a slogan on the lip, Joan ran a comedy club even
appearing on the same bill as Jo Brand. Once. As a university lecturer, she taught Noel Fielding all he knows about advertising which is probably why he became a comedian.
In addition to hosting her chat show on Vectis Radio interviewing everyone from former Radio1 DJ, Rob da Bank to MP Bob Seely, Joan has penned four award-winning books: I am Ella. Buy me, Guilt, TheThings You Missed While You Were Away and The Killing of Mummy’s Boy.

About Donna
Donna Jones MBE will be found in the file marked ‘Not for the faint hearted!’ After taking early retirement in 2010 Donna moved to the Isle of Wight to focus on her writing and poetry. Donna has published 3 poetry books, Blue Devils, The Thick and Thin Of It, and Red Raw, as well as being included in many anthologies.
In 2014, she established ‘Sound Bites’ to support and showcase emerging poets. Donna has performed widely across the UK and North
Carolina, America. Highlights include performing at the Ventnor Fringe, Bestival, The Isle of Wight festival and the Isle of Wight
Literary Festival.

‘Real, carefully wrought and unafraid poems that often tear away the poetic veil to reflect feelings and lives from troubled landscapes.
From Skeg Vegas to Blackberries, Donna Jones sings the dark of tough times, and harrowing journeys, to find moments of sweet relief,
tenderness and hope. Fabulous and personal work. Read it.’
Matt Black- Derbyshire Poet Laureate.
