Trinity awarded Michelin star

The latest edition of the UK Michelin Guide has been unveiled, with much anticipation among culinary followers of celebrity chefs and top restaurants, and with good reason – London is one of the top-ranked cities in the world for fine-dining.

With London having 64 stars and only 8 newcomers gaining a coveted star this year we’re delighted to report that Clapham’s very own Trinity has earned a Michelin Star, which represents the hallmark of fine dining.

When describing Trinity, Michelin inspectors said:

“The cooking at this long-standing, bright and warmly run neighbourhood restaurant is less elaborate than it once was – and it is all the better for it. The focus remains on the primary ingredient which is given space to shine.”

This is yet another triumph for owner Adam Byatt, whose other Clapham restaurant, Upstairs at Trinity was also a recipient of a Bib Gourmand accolade. Bib Gourmands are awarded by Michelin to restaurants which offer high-quality food and good value for money in a less formal manner. The Michelin Guide provides the following description for Upstairs:

‘The open-plan kitchen is the focus of this more relaxed room upstairs from Trinity. It’s all about sharing the visually appealing, flavoursome and reasonably priced plates, which bring a hint of the Mediterranean with them.’

Three further Clapham restaurants are recognised in the Michelin guide including Zumbura in Clapham Old Town, The Dairy on the Pavement and The Manor on Clapham Manor Street.

Add to this Cactus Kitchens on St Lukes Avenue, whose Michel Roux JR Cookery School was crowned the 2016 Cookery School of the Year by the Food and Travel Magazine it’s easy to see why Clapham is now one of the fine dining hotspots of South London.
