Thanks to all who came down for the first stage of the Urban Orchard on Landor Road!

This is Clapham along with The Landor Pub, Atherfold Hemberton Landor TRA, Fenwick Estate TRA, Bandstand Beds, The Open Orchard Project and volunteers installed the first stage of a new urban orchard and kitchen garden on Landor Road.

This first session involved the planting of the urban kitchen,  which includes plants such as rosemary, thyme, sage, chives and bay trees with the vision of helping residents develop a love and knowledge of healthy and sustainable food.

The next stage of the project will take place in January, which will see the planting of a range of apple, pear, damson and cherry trees.

Bobby Ijaz chair of Enhance Clapham and owner of Charles Sinclair estate agents said:

“This space on Landor Road was identified in the Common Ground Green Infrastructure Audit as a area for future enhancement. I am  pleased that the Clapham BID has invested in this green space, which will be a positive enhancement to Landor Road.”

Local businesses should be aware that Lambeth Council plan to redevelop the Fenwick Housing Estate on Landor Road. It will involve the redevelopment of the entire site and Lambeth Council are currently in the early stages of the design process. For more information see Lambeth Council’s website.
